Last night saw the final shows for two of Perth's community theatre opening seasons of 2007. Pride & Prejudice at Melville and ART at the Old Mill played to sell out shows all this week, after a slowish start in the first week.Goes to show that word of mouth is the best publicity one can get!! In spite of running at exactly the same time audiences happily went to both, not withstanding the rival attractions of the Festival of Perth. Both companies should be pleased with the responses to the shows (see theatre reviews) and this augers well for the rest of the year. Melville's next production is "A Passionate Woman" directed by Brenda Stanley (Creator of the wonderful costumes in P & P) It's a comedy about a woman "finding" her first love on the morning of her sons wedding. Plays April 13-28 Old Mill Theatre will present Eugene O'Neills classic, "A Moon for the Misbegotten" directed by Sally Bruce & Siobhan O'Gara. O'Neill is regarded as one of America's leading writers of the 20th century, winning both a Nobel Prize for literature and a Pulitzer Prize Plays April 5-21 See the What's On section for times and booking details.
