PIAF (the play, not the festival)
Sun, 25 Mar 2001, 12:49 amAt the same time as Caroline O'Connor picks up her Green Room award for playing the title role in Pam Gems' "Piaf" in Melbourne, rumours run amok in London that none other than _Madonna_ may soon play the very same role on the West End.
Mind you, after Jerry Hall as Mrs Robinson and Macaulay Culkin as... what the hell did he play anyway?..., I guess it was only a matter of time before the West End totally lost its mind.
What's next... Arnold Schwarzenegger as King Lear? Cindy Crawford as Electra? Tom Cruise as The Phantom?
Gotta hand it too those commercial producers, they sure know how to put bums on seats... even if it means putting sh*t on stage.
