The Fate of Artrage

Rumours abound that there will be no Artrage festival in October this year, that the festival may be cancelled altogether this year, or at best wound back to an unsubsidised weekender.

Whispers suggest that the ultimate fate of Artrage may be its rebirth as a bi-annual festival.

Another blow for the fledgling fringe industry?

RE: The Fate of Artrage

I guess it depends how it's handled to see if it'sa blow or a boon. Is there any indication as to the why-ness of these rumours? Is it the perennial bums-on-seats factor? Too much weird-ass stuff to get the relatively conservative audences of Perth to go out to see "alternative/new-age/post post post futuristic" theatre?

Not that it helps that YET ANOTHER avenue for theatre that ISN'T "Are You Being Served?" is having the vises tightened....

RE: The Fate of Artrage

I have heard rumour that Artrage is indeed having a Festival this year but it will be much smaller in scale. The Bi-annual thing is being bandied about in rumours too but don't believe everything you hear!!
