Richard Wherrett v. Sydney Theatre
Sun, 4 Feb 2001, 12:36 amhttp://www.smh.com.au/news/0102/03/spectrum/spectrum2.html
I found this in rec.arts.theatre.plays: it's an interesting essay/article by writer Louis Nowra on Australian theatre directors and the role of directors in theatre generally.
The recent outburst by director Richard Wherrett (which made the front page of the Sydney Morning Herald a few weeks ago) has been the cause of some heated discussion since then. Nowra's article is informed, partly, by what Wherrett had to say.
