Agent Hunting - happy stories?
Thu, 18 May 2006, 01:53 pmHey everyone :) After a stint of sucessful freelancing I have finally bitten the bullet and started agent hunting. Does anyone have any recommendations or happy stories? I am well aware of what NOT to look for in an agent, but if there are any actors out there with good ones it would be great if you could give them a plug :)
Agents
Fri, 16 June 2006, 12:14 amI think perhaps you need to check your facts. Perth is a very small city, with a large number of actors, and good ones at that. I am more than happy with the agency i have been with here for going on six years. It is not the agents fault if you dont get the part. It is also not your agents fault if you are not working. Every actor needs to be willing to find and/or make their own work. Agents are a guide, a helping hand and a foot in the door to some places you may not have the opportunity to be in otherwise.
However, we are all placed into a bracket according to age, height, looks, colouring, gender. And often there is no work in you bracket in the feilds where agents tread. Which leaves it up to you to find your own work, or to create it. Any actor who sits and waits for a call from their agent is not a passionate actor.
Agents in Perth do all they can do with the facilities, opportunities and enginuity they can. Much as the rest of us in the industry here. If your agent isnt working for you I suggest you talk to them about it. Often a lack of contact with your agent can be one of the biggest problems.
