Henry IV on film dir. Orson Welles
Thu, 6 Apr 2006, 11:36 amHi All
FTI (Fremantle, WA) has a newly renovated cinema (available for hire to groups if you want!!) and we are currently hosting Cinematheque 2006. The season has been curated by the National Film and Sound Archive and I thought Chimes At Midnight might be of interest to actors out there.
CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT (dir. Orson Welles) - Sir John Falstaff (played by Welles) is the hero of this film - a compilation of extracts from Shakespeare's Henry IV and other plays, made into a connected story of Falstaff's career as young Prince Hal's drinking campanion. The massive knight roisters with and without the prince, philosophises comically, goes to war (in his own fashion), and meets his final disappointment. Starring Jeanne Moreau, John Gielgud and Margaret Rutherford.
A 4 film pass is just $15/$20 and this gets you into 4 films over the season - screenings are every Wednesday from March 22 - June 21 (starting 7pm). www.fti.asn.au/cinema/
So go for a beer and dinner at Clancy's and then walk across and watch a bit of Shakespeare if you like!
Cheers
