Year 12 TEE Drama Studies
Wed, 22 Mar 2006, 11:38 pmAs a Year 12 TEE Drama Studies student you are required to preform a scripted monologue of about 3
minutes, I am yet to find anything suitable. I am a 17 year old girl. So if anyone has any suggestions
I'd love to hear them...thanks xoxox

RE: Year 12 TEE Drama Studies
Your monologue only has to go for 3 minutes! My Year 11 one had to go for 10!
Anyway, I did my Year 11 one as Eponine from 'Les Mis'-the original book version. One of my friends did her's from the book 'This Lullaby'-IT WAS SO GOOD!
It's probably best to get one from a movie/play/book that you're really familiar with-otherwise it's too hard to remember. Does it have to be in a specific style (eg, realist)?
Hope it all goes well!

Monologues
I know this may sound obvious, but type FREE MONOLOGUES into Google. There are literally hundreds of sites that list monologues in categories - age ranges, film, theatre, style etc. I have always found it pretty useful. Be sure to check out worldwide sites, not just Australian ones.

Finding a Monologue
Hey I just did Year 12 TEE Drama Studies last year and the best thing to do is go with something your familiar with but is also different from your original piece.
Going with what Rae said go to Google if your stuck heaps of great stuff does come up you just have to be willing to look.
Good Luck

No Can Do
May i make a note that as a part of the Ciriculum requirements for the monolgue section of the exam you are not allowed to dowload monologues from the internet and they will ask you for the IRN number of the text you got the monologue from.

Like i said can't dowload
Like i said can't dowload from the internet. I'm in the same boat as you love I have already outlined and begun my solo production but the Monologue I'm going to the state library on the holidays as recommended by my teacher they have a massive play collection up there. If you are already familiar with a play. . mayb you've studied it already then go with something from that.
No specific style. Try and choose a different type of character and style from that of your solo production to show the examiners your range of ability.
