RE: Theatre Resources
Stage Whispers has all the info you need as well. It's a national publication but eveyone lists in it and it has some reviews as well. Well worth a look.

RE: Theatre Resources
I have read feedback and even though it seems to be pretty Sydney based it was a refreshing change from stage whispers. That magazine SUCKS! It's so booring! When are they ever going to write a story that isn't a re-printed press release? I really liked feedbacks articles because they are informative and practical.

RE: Theatre Resources
Thanks for your feedback on Stage Whispers, Tristan.
None of my reviews or articles have been written with the press release in hand.
For the record, The Network Section snipets ARE written with the Press Release in mind, because we want to give the productions good publicity. It is want the public WANT.
Try to be a little more clear, when you want to make a point, Tristan. I don't think people would read my reviews if I just said "Tristan sucks" or "Such and such a show sucks."

I'm not offended. Just wanted to let you know that your opinion has been noted.

RE: Theatre Resources
Kimberley,
I don't think that Stage Whispers is what the public wants. I think it is only a matter of time before they disappear forever because a group like ITA can offer more interesting and relevant information. Thank you for proving my point with that typo above "It's want the public want". Good one Stage Whispers.. you've done it again!
As for specifics, ok Kimberley, the reviews are boring and uninsightful and in many cases are little more than rehashings of the plot. Names are spelt incorrectly (now that's just insulting, don't you guys buy a program?) and the reviews offer little critical content, making them no more than a synopsis of personae and plot. There is no practical content for performers to use as a resource either. The only reason Stage Whispers has lasted as long as it has is because there has been no competition for them.
I'm not having a go at you Kimberley, it's the magazine as a whole that has been caught in some sort of time warp and has not progressed. To be honnest with you you are one of the best in the mag, however I am one of the few people who read all the reviews from all the states and your company is by no means flattering.

Tristan,
'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.'
-a group like ITA
-To be honnest with you
Now it's fair enough to point out someone else's typing errors, but to make such mistakes of your own just succeeds in making you look bad.
Next time, try proof reading your message before sending out a critique of someone else's.

I don't know about you, but I know my name has been spelt incorrectly in programmes more time than I can count!

Tristan
You are obviously one of the people who have had their name spelt incorrectly or are you simply having a bad hair day! Also who died and made you the 'god' of popular public opinion. If you are not happy with Stage Whispers then my suggestion is that you get off your bottom and do something about it. It can't be too bad if you're still reading it.
Tristan, I look forward to your next review of a show you've seen or an article on the show biz world ( Spelling mistake free of course ).
PS Kimberley, keep up the good work.

RE: Theatre Resources
Mate, I don't read it anymore. I got sick of the content and yes they have spelt my name and plenty of other people's names incorrectly too many times. I work with a large group of performers and some of them do read it from time to time when they pick it up in the newsagent read the two lines that are relevant to them and put it back. It is an ongoing joke here that they make so many mistakes. I am not the god of popular opinion and don't claim to be. This is my opinion. Isn't that what this forum was designed for? Don't try to shoot people down just because they don't agree with what you say, It makes for a very boring forum.

I agree Tristan. Everyone's opinion is not the same and you should be allowed to voice yours.

Just as I was thinking that this gossip page was getting dull and boring, along comes Tristan.
He hasn't any manners but at least he's started the ball rolling again with the potential for some vituperative postings
Watch this space.

I too agree with the right to voice your opinion. However I do feel that when you get to saying things like....
"Melissa,
I'm not a writer, and I never claimed to be. End of story. Get a life. "
...the 'get a life' comment is beginning to scrape the bottom of the barrel, is unnecessary, and can be construed as offensive (and not just to Melissa).
This thread started out about industry publications - why did it get personal?
