A Radical Re-Interpretation: Chekov's The Seagull
Mon, 20 Nov 2000, 03:22 pmPress Release:
A Radical Re-Interpretation: "Chekhov's The Seagull"
A production by Malcolm Crisp
Designed by Jo Marsh
Original Soundscape by The June Brides
With
Alaina Harris
David Meadows
Jo Marsh
Patrick Spicer
Renate Earnshaw
Tim Collins
From the team that produced the sell out season of 'an elektra' comes another classic text made post-modern!
Malcolm Crisp has decided not to explore the text itself but rather what is absent from the text. It is within these gaps and exclusions that an entirely different story unfolds. The nature and power of authorship together with the ramifications of culturally transgressive sexualities are all extemporised from the subtext and presented as the 'play itself'.
The production is also given a contemporary edge by a rock/theatre fusion soundscape performed live by one of Perth's most interesting bands The June Brides.
This production contains nudity and adult only content.
At the Blue Room Theatre, 53 Francis Street, Northbridge.
Limited season dates: Nov 23, 24, 25, 30 Dec 1, 2.
Doors open 9.15pm play commences 9.30pm sharp.
Duration: one hour.
All tickets $10.00
Bookings phone: 9227 7005
