Year 2001 Planning

The Kwinana Community Arts Centre is in the process of planning it's 2001 calander year production schedule.

We would again like to invite companies from around the state and metropolitan area to present their productions at the Arts Centre.

As with last year, we will provide a guarrentee of $500 per season or 50% of the net box office, whichever is greater. The companies provide the show and basic PR material and we will provide the venue and publicity budget.

As mentioned last year by a contributor to the discussion, we acknowledge that $500 is not enough to pay for the production of a show, it is however a nice guarrentee for a production which has already had a season in another venue. As a matter of interest, we paid out the minimum $500 on three occassions and paid out $1,446.00 to one company which sold well.

Backstreet Theatre, Blak Yak, Short Fuse, Playlovers and Waiting in the Wings have all produced shows in Kwinana this year and we hope to add to the number of productions and companies presenting programmes in the year 2001.

You may wish to talk with the individuals concerned about the process and how it works, however anacodatally and from the venues perspective, it seems to work well.

We hope to attract a Shakespere production and a musical would be nice, as well as the normal range of drama and comedy produced throughout the state. We hope to attract around 13 weeks of programming to the venue.

It is appropriate to add, given the debate on the exclusive lease arrangements for the Kwinana Theatre Workshop, that this programming is in addition to; not instead of KTW, whom have already booked six seasons throughout the year.

For further information about this programme and how we can incorporate your company into the schedule, please e-mail or call 94390291 for furhter details.
