RE: Musical Theatre
Hi Bec,
Do you know about the Certificate in Musical Theatre course at WAAPA? I think that it is free but you must audition to get in and I'm not sure if there is an age limit. Phone WAAPA for more details and you could also ask what other courses they have available. I don't know of any other courses in Musical Theatre that you don't have to pay for.
If you don't mind paying, you can take drama, singing and dance lessons at most dance schools. There are some schools which specialise in all three.
I know that various actors/theatre companies run workshops every now and then but I'm afraid I can't tell you where to look for information on these. Maybe someone else on this site can help with further information here.
Are you involved in community theatre? If not, why not try it? It's not a class or a course but it will give you experience and it's lots of fun.
Good Luck,
Gill

RE: Musical Theater
Hi Rebecca,
Re courses/classes for people of your age group.
Try the following:-
STAGECOACH THEATRE ARTS SCHOOL
Phone 9322-6300
website: www.stagecoachtheatrearts.com
I understand that it has a central city location and runs classes at weekends. It is a branch of a succesful part time theatre course founded in UK about twelve years ago and is now the world's largest part time theatre school, offering dance, drama and singing. The year is divided into 4 terms running concurrently with the normal academic year.
i would also endirse the advice to join one of the local amateur theatre companies, of which there are about 30 in the metro area.If you contact the ITA office on 9420-7242 (mornings) or me as above or 9457-2471 or email davisrn@cygnus.uwa.edu.au with your adress I can send you a list where you can be certain of finding one near your home.

RE: Musical Theatre
Hello, I have a comparatively good singing voice, & interested in joining a musical group. I have 2 years acting experience, but would also like to lend my voice to a musical group. Thanks.

RE: Musical Theater
thanks.
I've done some stuff with local places before, and I was really just looking around to see if there was anything else I might be interested in. :)
