Thu, 18 Aug 2005, 09:46 amA full time, two week intensive from 9 - 20 January, 2006 held in Brisbane, Qld. This 10 day course will offer an in depth introduction to the art of clown theatre and slapstick choreography. This is a fantastic opportunity for actors, performers and artists to discover the joy and physical comedy of the clown as well as refine their body awareness and theatrical precision through the study of movement and slapstick.
The intensive has a very physical focus with the first two hours each day dedicated to the study of slapstick choreography with international trainer, Scott Witt. The body holds enormous comic wealth and presence. The study of slapstick will increase your awareness, and use, of the theatrical and comic power of the body in space. Each afternoon session of three hours will be dedicated to unleashing the clown through improvisation, observation and exercises. You will commence a thorough investigation into the clown spirit, clown relationships, the mechanics of clown theatre and its wonderful comic joy in the absurd! All work will focus on the body as the primary source of creativity.
You will be challenged to find the truth that is the cornerstone of your clown, to (re)discover your imagination and refine your understanding of stage presence!
