Performing Shakespeare in Australia
Fri, 25 Feb 2005, 01:07 pmDear Friends,
I am presently attached to The Queensland Performing Arts Centre Museum, where I am collecting audio-visual recordings of various performances of Shakespeare specifically performed in Australia. The purpose of collecting this material is to use suitable images for a major exhibition entitled, "Performing Shakespeare in Australia" to be curated by The Queensland Performing Arts Centre Museum next year. This exhibition will coincide with The VIIIth World Shakespeare Conference in Brisbane.
So far, I have extensively searched the National Screen and Sound Archives in Canberra, and have approached other repositories and major theatre companies around the country where I have found useful material. What I am now interested in is whether there is any other such footage in private hands. If you or anyone you know has such material and is willing to loan it for this exhibition, please send me an email with your details.
Thank you for your assistance.
