Ageism doesn't rule - talent does !!
Thu, 23 Dec 2004, 04:30 amTROPFEST SHORT
We are shooting a fast paced political satire (English style humour). Looking for enthusiasm, passion and comic timing - with the willingness to well and truly get into character. Filming 1st week in January (8th/9th Jnauary) with international team. Please note - its not a paying gig - but it will be fun and whilst we can't promise we will win - with everyone putting in their best we're going to give it a damn good try!!! (also we'll feed you - plenty of sticky buns)
We are looking for GOOD mature (ideally experienced) actors who are very keen to throw themselevs into the parts .....so far we have been let down a couple of times ......so enthusiasm and passion are the key features - the director will bring the rest out.
If this is you please email me as soon as possible as time is moving on. If any of the following characters appeal to you please email me at timlea50@hotmail.com and I will arrange to send the script or call 0414 989355
Thanks for readign so far.......
We need the following 5 characters :
LABORD –lead character driving the piece - probably late twenties/early thirties (negotiable) – someone who has the image of being authoritative, but who is actually insecure in themselves – especially defensive when they feel attacked. He is an aspirational politician – who believes he can achieve anything but actually achieves almost nothing.
QUIBBLE – everyone’s worst neighbour – an interfering busybody who would be the first to offer advice about anything to anybody. Fundamentally not a bad person – just a pain in the arse – probably looks 35 – 45 (flexible) - but most definitely no sense of style or understanding let alone real empathy with the human race.
GREENBARD – probably 35-45 going on 60 – highly educated, and an absolute pedant – who would pick up the slightest failing in people . Adopts an air of superiority which actually belies a deep insecurity. Would probably have liked to have been a politician but lacked the subtlety, tact, diplomatic and people skills to do so.
MATURE MAN – been there . Done that . Only at the meeting to keep warm and not to be alone. Very limited attention span – falls asleep at the slightest prompting. Ideally late 50’s/early sixties (but this can easily be changed)
RAZOR – young probably mid twenties. Small part but requires good comic timing
