2 Actresses Needed

Hi All

Well, there seems to be plenty of them on here so lets see how we go.

I am currently casting a feature film that will be shot in Australia. Here's hoping it gets released nationally, but it may end up being an independent release.

We have almost cast the entire show but need two female actresses aged 14-18 to film some small parts.

The film will be shot in Perth and all costs etc will be paid for.

We're looking for people with some determination.

I fear that your little jaunt into "point proving" could have deeper ramifications than you realise. I fervently hope that the response by "Leisa" that was posted in reply to your advert is as phony as the job oppurtunity that you mentioned, because "Leisa" placed her phone numbers on the bottom of the reply and has left herself open to harrassment (or worse) from any number of the nasties that we all know are out there waiting for an opportunity such as this to arrive.
If this was a joke Troy, it was in very poor taste. If you have done this to "prove a point" as you say, I sincerely hope that "Leisa" and her two daughters give out your number every time they get a crank call because of it. Maybe that would prove yet another point.

Ahh, love how people like to shoot people down before they're given a chance to explain. That's what I love about Australia.

All will be revealed in what will be a huge expose about young theatre hopefuls in Australia and the danger they face.

Graeme - your comments are 100% correct and that's the point - Leisa put her contact details there after a message was posted by somebody she doesn't know, hasn't heard of and somebody who could be anybody. What's worse, she posted it even after I said the message was fake.

I am taking a step further what many people on this board talk about: the rediculous posts by nieve teenagers who truly have no idea and are putting themselves in danger.

When the story is released on BroadwayAustralia.com, you'll see how this all served as a warning. A warning to young theatre performers that they should not accept "private auditions" by someone they don't know, nor should they give their personal details.

Throw me over burning coals if you must, but I have a feeling that when we do eventually get the story online, it'll attract a lot of interest, and hopefully save somebody from danger in the future.

Oh, doesn't this prove a point or three.

I seem to get the impressions that you think your a little above everyone else, I could be wrong, but that is how I perceived it. I mean, you could at least apologise to anyone you have offended, but you refuse. I understand that you were trying to as you say "Prove a point" but this website (Unless I'm mistaken) does not promote fake auditions. The last time I checked they had to actually happen. So maybe you won't apologise out of your "stubborness" (I'm quite aware thats not a word), and may I also add, that your so called "Point" was aimed at teenagers, well the twins mum replied, not them. So maybe it was all a waste of time anyway, and you upset alot of people for nothing. You also put that Australians act before they think. Well its a valid point you might like to take into consideration I'm English. I think if this is some kind of experiment, you need to realise the general public are not you hampsters. You will need to do it professionly, and get permission.

Unfortunately, no report- no false(yet ultimately educational) audition posting is going to change the fact that young people with a dream are an easy target for paedophiles and scam artists.

The 'point' is that when people feel disappointed and ill-used, they get angry and to all those who answered Gregory/Troy's post, I can only hope that the next time your dream takes a blow{and it will-cos thats show biz} it will be in a more legitimate, traditional fashion.

Sorry mica but the auditions were a fake, you would have known if u had of read them.

It will only be a matter of time before we hear on the news or read in the papers about a teenager who had answered a private audition notice and was abused, raped or worse. We're trying to head that off. I will be talking to all relevant organisations in relation to this and the story will be a huge one. When you read it, I think you will be amazed. Fraud:a dishonest trick, a person or thing that is not quite what it seems to be, an impostor.

Impostor:A person who pretends something.
So what was your fake audition if it wasn't a fraud?

I'm saying its wrong to show some statistics on the whole teenage problem, but I do not think it is appropreate to post a fraud, or you might prefer the word "fake" audition on this site. This site is for real auditions that really happen, its NOT for you to post a quicky fake audition to "Prove a Point", you could get peoples hopes up, actually let me re-phase that, you GOT people's hopes up, and now its not real. It doesn't matter that you told people after words that it was a fraud, to late pal, to many people were already desterbed by it. And so what if you told people that they could delete it, you already posted it. I don't know whether you still don't understand the whole concept, or you do and are just being rude, but I think you deserve it to the people who you wronged to give an apologe. A wise man once said the two hardest words to say are "I'm Sorry" but your wrong, and you need to realise that.

Auditions for Moving On
Needed: one older man, character is concerned about the welfare
of youth but employs methods that cause disappointment
and anger {this is a very challenging role}

Also need several youngish actors (13-16yrs)

This play will run for just over a month and while being a wonderful examination of human emotions will probably result in confusion, apathy and not a small amount of irritation for the cast as well as the audience.

the real message we want to send through our production is this-
dreams are tricky things, they can lift us up as well as betray us; showbiz is rough; sometimes the thing we want most-an apology, will never come and if it does, does not mean much.

Troy is a great guy who has done so much for his clients and their fans. He is a very hard worker who is very dedicated to the industry.

I think that he proved his point very well and maybe next time the people that did respond will learn to be more wary before they go sending personal information to a hotmail address or post it on the internet.

Hey Grant, are you and James 'Black Snow' the same person?

I don't see why you think Troy proved his point.
It's the nature of these forums that people tend to respond to what they read before moving to read the next thread, especially when his 'explanatory' post was not given a new Subject Heading that might have warned us, but looked like any typical response to such an audition notice. So his second post can't claim to have anywhere near the effectiveness he's claiming it does...so no wonder people ignored it.

I'm too busy to search for the link right now, but I've already written on this topic long ago, that I don't actually believe it's such a big deal to post contact details like a phone number here...what's different to leaving your number anywhere else? So the point he's 'proving' is hardly worth proving.

And lastly, where's this proof? We were promised an astounding expose, but it seems to have fizzled to nothing. Will there be an apology forthcoming for this, too?

Why is it admirable to point out how the internet can deceive and hurt someone by using the internet to deceive and hurt someone? The people deserve an apologie, the man (Troy that is) is wrong but he will NOT admit it, people like that really aggrevate me. And also Grant Sirone, I do not think you can perticually comment on the subject, as you wern't affected, or seen people affected by Troy fraud auditon. And I'm sorry Troy, but thats what it was, go look in the dictionary, and I think the word Fraud quite covers what you did.

For gods sake its Christmas time. No, in fact its Christmas Eve, just apologise, Christmas is a time for joy, fun, family, friends all these things. Not fraudulant auditions. If you simply write "I am sorry" grudges against you will be lost, we can forget it all, and move on. Because this debate has been going on for 1 month 20 days and about an hour, an to be honest, its getting pathetic. So are you, just apologise, I'm sure you've said "Sorry" before. Its not that hard. Grant saying how your a legend, but even legends have to admit there wrong sometimes you know.

My final statement on this matter:

I do not deny the audition was a fraud. I don't even know why people feel they need to point that out, I admitted that hours after the initial post. I do apologise if anyone was offended or personally affected by this and encourage anyone to email me personally if they feel they were. I don't think a public forum is the place to talk about it.

I do not apologise for the whole thing though. The story will feature in the February edition of BroadwayAustralia.com, if all goes to plan. The plan was to have it out in January or even sooner, but this story will not be some fly by night thing, it's a huge story with a lot of opinions and quotes from industry experts. We are waiting for final quotes from one of the industry experts involved in this special investigation before we to print on the story.

I am sure my knockers would prefer I put up a half-hearted story that proves nothing, but I won't give them the pleasure.

Thanks to all the people who decided they'd call me a wanker, a fraud etc etc. After all, you people surely know everything about me from one post on a board. I mean, I should just ignore the people I actually know, or those who have known me for more than five minutes and go on your opinions, right?

I have posted tonnes of audition notices on this website over the years. Many of the people who have auditioned for shows I have worked on and have been successful have come from this website. Any thanks anywhere? Of course not. But one step people deem as wrong, and they want to crucify you.

I urge you to read our website, www.performingartspublicity.com, where you will see the things me and my team and collegues are trying to do for theatre in this country. It's a lot more than any of you will ever do.

I think that some of you are judging Troy a bit too quickly. Troy is a journalist and is working on a story. He didn't write that post to fool anyone or give anyone false hope. Since he is writing a story about young people who would do anything to make it into this industry, he wrote that post to use as research for his article. He wanted to prove that this business is a "dog eat dog world" business and that young people would do anything for their "big break." You hear all the time in the news, of teenagers meeting predators online and being raped or kidnamped or worse. He is just trying to prove that young aspiring actors might fall into that trap.

So you also say, that this website is for real audtions. I will admit that I am not 100 % familiar with this website, but are there any background checks of people before they post auditions? Do you really know for sure if an audition is real or fake? I think that is another point that needs to be made.

I do not think that Troy should apologize for doing his job and trying to protect young people from possible predators. I think people should thank him for alerting them to a problem. The last thing people want to hear is that a 16 year old girl answered an ad for a private audition and was raped.

So, before you send Troy to the electric chair, why don't you try to look deeper into his actions and not just assume that he was out trying to hurt people!

Funny, the situation on this website looks like a bunch of actors writing a story about a journalist who would do anything to make it into HIS industry, proving that his business too is 'dog eat dog' and that some journalists will do anything for THEIR big break. You read all the time in the news, of actors meeting journalists and being misrepresented or misquoted or worse....

Do you know for sure that ANY job interview ANYWHERE is real or fake? How do you find out? Are there any background checks done of anybody who posts a help wanted ad in the newspaper? What is different here from any other situation? I'm afraid I still don't think the point being made is terribly ground breaking. People should be careful everywhere. But the percentage of incident is still proportionately small.

Hmmm...journo-speak? He's not trying to protect young people from predators, he's trying to prove that they are at risk. That is an entirely different agenda, to get his story written. How is any actual 'protection' going to occur? He has not yet actually established that anyone is at risk, only that people respond to fake ads the same way that they do to real ones. How do you propose to distinguish fake ads from real ones?
Similarly, how do I know I won't be attacked or robbed by someone who answers my audition ad? Obviously I agree that we don't want to see anyone raped or harmed in any way....but my point is, what is it about the internet that is LESS safe than any other method of doing business? In fact, I reckon you could argue that in some ways it's safer, because far fewer transactions have to be face-to-face these days. How do you justify your premise?

I have never assumed he was out trying to hurt people, I have no doubt he thought he was helping. But I think he is rather foolish now to deny that he HAS hurt people, and to not admit that his approach was not well thought through. To the outside observer, his attitude appears arrogant.

Of course, I forgave him for this as soon as I found out he was a journalist, because I knew he can't help himself...

Hello nikki.
The reason none of the places has replied is probably because emailing them doesn't work. You can't expect to get a job as an actor via email.
So I'm replying to you to tell you that there is nothing anyone can do based upon your approach.

Read more of this site and research the many good suggestions there are here for far better approaches than relying on email.

It seems to me that both the people that are against Troy and the people that are for Troy have already made their minds up. It is pointless for either side to justify their own decision because the other side will simply not listen. People should stop arguing and end this Odyssey

On the subject of Troy, it appears people will go to Helen back to make a pun, and will talk themselves horse making the feeblest com-Paris-sons. Just try and Priam off this website! Some puns are shallow and one dimensional, while others have Menelaus. Bloody Hector possibilities are endless!
