Taking auditions for WAAPA or NIDA? Or are you a theatre novice who wants help and coaching. Or maybe you just want to brush up on your Shakespeare? We have the class for you!

Starting on October 23rd The Method studio will be offering two eight-class drama courses, both taught by Stephen Lee:

METHOD ACTING

All the basics of Stanislavski’s “method” are covered in a series of simple practical exercises. An excellent class for both beginner and more experienced student. Also, since all work is non-text based, an extremely useful way to sharpen and improve your improvisational skills. Learn how easy it is to be both a better improviser and a better actor.

The course covers:

1 The use of Images
2 Units and Objectives
3 Emotion Memory
4 Obstacles
5 Focus
6 Layering
7 Character Acting
8 Playing of Comedy

Every Saturday 10.00 am till 1.00 pm October 23rd – December 11th at the Blue Room, James St. $240 for eight classes.

SHAKESPEARE / CLASSICAL THEATRE

AUDITIONING FOR DRAMA SCHOOL? Want to work in-depth on characters from Shakespeare, or always longed play Earnest or Hedda?

Ÿ For more experienced actors, this practical class offers the chance to work in depth on scenes and speeches from Classical theatre. .

§ This course is based around work on students’ individual choices of monologues and scenes. This allows students to focus solely on one particular author (such as Shakespeare) or cover a broad range of eras, including Ancient Greek Drama; Jacobean theatre; Restoration Comedy; Comedy of Manners; Melodrama or the work of playwrights such as Ibsen, Chekhov, Shaw or Wilde.

§ The course will give practical help with language and verse speaking, and will explore the conventions and customs of different times and societies and hence the differences in style and approach needed by an actor when performing classical theatre.

If you are terrified by the thought of playing Shakespeare, Chekhov or Wilde, or need to work up audition pieces for WAAPA or NIDA: this is the class for you. Since most work in the course is based around studentsÂ’ playing of individual scenes, you are in full control of both the speed you work at and the level of difficulty you attempt.

Stephen Lee has a vast experience of acting and directing in London for over twenty five years. He recently taught several very popular classes at the ITA Interact and will be adjudicating this yearÂ’s State DramaFest. He recently played Prospero at The New Fortune, and directed Othello for Class Act Theatre. He is a co-founder of Attic Theatre Company which launches this December

Every Saturday 2.00 pm till 5.00 pm October 23rd – December 11th at the Blue Room, James St. $240 for eight classes.
