Call For Actors

I am seeking to cast three actors for my final year film for RMIT’s screen (film and television). It is a surreal adaptation of the Grim Brother’s fairytale “The Elves”, set in the Australian bush during the early 1900s. A young couple experiences the birth of their first child at their remote homestead, and we follow this young mother in her challenge to protect her new child from the unseemly spirits that co-inhabit their land. I am looking for dedicated actors interested in this magical concept to join me on this project for an enjoyable shoot at a beautiful country property one hour out of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsular.

CAST
The Mother: to look early 20s, of Anglo descent. Fair features prefferred, and features that could fit the time. Age not a restriction but a youthful innocence essential. The Mother will be required for all five days of the shoot, to be expressive and to be able to work imaginatively as some characters will be added in post-production.

The Father: 20s, typical countryman look (if such a thing exists!). 1-2 day shoot.

The Nixie: female, any age, mysterious features. The Nixie is a magical, gypsyesque water-bound woman that helps the mother win back her child from the elves. 1-2 day shoot.

This 16mm shoot is between the 27th of September and the 1st of October with catering and accommodation provided. While the project is for school graduation it will be submitted to film festivals both nationally and internationally. You will be working with an experienced and enthusiastic crew with credits and past films having been shown at St.Kilda and Palm Springs film festivals. A professional DOP is on board, as well as a first-class post-production team. This job is privately funded and thus unpaid, but of course copies will be provided for show-reels and there will hopefully be a wide exposure.

I look forward to hearing from you talented people!
Please email cvs and headshots to riggi_d@yahoo.com.au
Or snail mail hardcopies to 14 Wairoa Avenue, East Brighton, 3187.
For any more info on the project please feel free to email or call me for a chat on 0402 91 51 91

cheers, Michael
