Here's some links for you:
http://www.asis.gov.au/ - ASIS (The Australian Secret Intelligence Service): This is the intelligence agency in Australia- the people who actually do the "Spy" work. There's a fair amount of info on the site, and you might be able to ring someone from there for more information
http://www.asio.gov.au - ASIO (The Australian Security and Intelligence Organisation): This is the organisation that gathers all of the "non-secret" information from other countries, not as secretive as ASIS, but still kinda spy-related
http://www.ona.gov.au - ONA (The Office of National Assessments): The "boring" end of the spy world, these people get all of the information from ASIS and ASIO and assess it. They decided what is and isn't important, then tell the government, defence force and the public what they need to know. They're the people that come up with the "travel warnings" that you've probably seen on television.

There's also two Defence Force Intelligence agencies, Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO), which is basically ASIO for the defence force, and Directorate of Security (DS) which gives out security clearances. To get into either of those, you have to contact the Defence Force- www.defencejobs.gov.au is the best place for that.

These five organisations form the core of Australia's intelligence abilities.

I hope that this has helped
