Any advice?

Hey guys,
Sorry to bother you all, but i was just wondering if any of you had any advice on how to get into the field of directing?
Just to let you know I'm not just trying to get fame and glory and I know that posting this here isn't going to jump start my career, I'm not as naive as some of my fellow sixteen year olds. And I am looking into courses and things like that myself I just thought it would be great if someone could give me some pointers or maybe even tell me if any of the courses around are just a waste of time.
At school I have directed a production of "The Man from Mukinupin", I really enjoyed it and (not trying to be up myself) I was really good at it. I am really creative and I have the determination to do just about anything and so I was just writing to see if any of you knowledgeable people had any advice for me.
Cheers,
Nicole

Re: Any advice?

Go to your local theatre group, and say that you want to direct. Find a play and suggest it. Volunteer to be an assistant director in other productions. Get yourself known and experienced

Re: Any advice?

Practice Practice Practice.

One egg does not make a dozen.
One ad doth not make the show reel.
One role does not make a director.
One glory does not make a reputation.
One act does not make a playwright.
One stanza does not make a poet.
One prophet does not make a society.
One regent does not make a monarchy.
One kingdom does not make an empire.
One realm does not make the earth.
One planet does not make the galaxy.
One sentence does not form the chiasmus
on what is formed: Neither done with sentence one.

I agree with Julianne. Get involved in community theatre. You'll be able to get practice and experience in all areas of theatre production. Check the "Companies" listing on this website, to find one near you!
