35 year old man needs an acting job!

I have seventeen years experience, a professional agent, professional training, and everyone tells me I am really good.

Good luck, Angie.

35 year old male needs a shave.

I also need a new pair of sneakers, a major service done on my car, and I'd like to record a bestselling album....all things that I am sure will come true just by posting this statement here...

Wish me luck

Hi Sasha (and Trent - glad to see you contributing so much to the conversation....what are your other pseudonyms doing tonight?)

Basically, the one thing I didn't need to spell out, because you are doing a sterling job of making it blatantly obvious, is that you seem to have a rather poor attitude...to your cousin, to yourself, and to me and all the other users of this site.

Yes, I'm critical. I expect high standards and ideals from the aspiring artists who contribute to this site, and I tend not to tolerate people who are abusive and obnoxious.

Yes, I also take the piss. Much like I'm now doing to you. I guess that's an ego-driven, self-righteous, highly opinionated, over-confident, intellectually elitist flaw of mine. Still, it provides for a kind of entertainment. Drama comes from conflict, this website is about Drama, and I entertain myself and a few others by posing ideas that conflict with the likes of yours. If I found that people stopped commenting favorably, and rating so many of my posts quite highly, I would realise no one was reading and I'd give up and go and learn macrame; however your posts just make it far too easy to take the piss out of you....as bitter, nasty, and cruel that I am, YOU'RE the one making it seem fun.

A long line of knockbacks from auditions is the ONLY way to achieve success. Ask anyone who has become successful (like your famous cousin you envy so much, perhaps?). The longer the line of knockbacks means the more auditions you have attempted; the more experienced you become at auditions, the sooner you start to get CALLbacks instead. Again, this just emphasizes what I think is lacking in your attitude.

(Having said that, I must be failing: I haven't had any knockbacks at all lately, due to the fact that I've been continuously doing shows since about
1998. I guess that really does prove how much of a 'cough cough loser' I am.)

I don't mean to be cruel to all of the 12/13/14/15/16 year-olds who post one or two lines here basically saying, "I'm good. Call me and give me a job.", but it really has become laughable how nobody seems to read the very good advice that many people have posted in response...basically, that this approach DOES NOT WORK. After repeatedly posting the same advice, and yet these hopefuls still post the same useless messages, no wonder I start to feel that perhaps they are a few pages short of a full script, and I start to get frustrated and it probably seems like I am totally taking the piss out of them. The best way for them to avoid this is to demonstrate some ability, read the website, and stop repeating others' egregious mistakes.

You might think my advice is crap and I have nothing positive to offer a teenager who wants to be an actor....but it might be worth considering that by the time I was 16 I had performed lead roles in 2 Festival of Perth shows, had represented Australia in a festival in Japan, was about to do the same in a USA festival with a play I had co-devised, and was on my way to starting a professional career that has so far spanned 17 years and many festivals, countries, and awards. I work with a lot of school-aged kids...I can probably offer a few ideas if they're REALLY willing to improve, and not just dreaming that someone will see their post and offer them an Oscar.

Feel free to try to spell out more of my failings....you obviously need the spelling practice.

Cheers,
Craig

sorry Mark81, if she was gay, even in the stupid way, her arguments would be a lot wittier than the childish name calling she has been reduced to now.
