Wont anyone take pity on a poor teenager who needs a job
Sun, 13 June 2004, 04:36 pmHi, sorry to suck you into reading this, but i have posted this message before and got no response whatsoever. my name is Luke Heath I have recently been involved in a locally (western australia) written and performed play called "A Fractured Fairytale" and i believe that it has touring possibilities, it worked well with some of the cast as young as 5 years old, and no one aged older than 19. BUT, that doesnt always have to be the case. It was just a good oppertunity for the young kids to get some experience that they wouldnt have otherwise had. So, to cut a long story short, i am looking for companies in other states that would be interested in performing it. I am willing to direct it myself, but if not, i would like to help some how, so i can make sure it stays as close to the original as possible.
I am contactable on 0403328830 or (08) 92504203.

In my opinion, Luke, your strategy to get noticed this time is probably going to horribly backfire.
Most readers are so totally sick of all the posts that say things like 'give an x-year-old a job' that they are not even going to open your post, let alone send you a response. The fact you posted this three times made it look even more like spam...not helping your cause at all, and so no, not earning you any pity.
I'm not sure either that the content of your post is going to entice theatre companies to seek you out...they probably need a lot more information to show any interest. I suggest you send copies of your script to a few companies to let them read it and give some feedback; or at least send a more detailed synopsis and perhaps reviews to pitch your play.
Cheers,
Craig

Hi Sasha
If you re-read the advice I gave to Luke, I think you'll find that I'm not hassling him in the least, I'm giving quite a realistic appraisal of his request and what would probably work better.
I don't believe many theatre companies would be much enticed by his information, especially posted under the subject heading he tried.
It's difficult enough to get a script considered, let alone convince a company that you can direct it for them as well. It appears no one responded at all the last time he posted...so rather than him repeat the same post, I suggested a few things that might work better. He needs to provide a lot more support material; a synopsis, reviews, and eventually let them read the entire script. None of this is going to work by posting it on an obscure thread in this forum. Far better to approach a company personally. If they like it, it may go ahead. If they don't, they may give a good indication of what they would prefer or what could be improved.
Now, if this seems like poor advice (Drama_Queen and David Ryding didn't seem to think so) then you are quite within your right to hate me for it. Go ahead and form your club. But you may also find that the more you continue to post abusive and ignorant messages here, the more credibility you give me for disagreeing with you, and any hate on this website will be directed in entirely the other direction.
Please be civil. And piss off.
Craig

Let me get this straight. You want to start an 'I hate whoever club' because we offered you some advice and our opinions?? If you want to be an actress so badly what will you say to the people you audition for when they tell you that they dont like your look, your hair, your whatever, that you werent right for the job. With an attitude like that it is no wonder you havent been successful.
'I'll take the high road and you take the low road' comes to mind for some reason.
Anyway, use your passion to further your career not to cut down contacts and you may get somewhere.

Re: YES !!!!!!!!!
Hey Sasha
When did you become such a loser? Cant think of anything intelligent to say so you start swearing - and even that word you cant spell properly!
If you have a problem with your so called "cousin" why dont you tell them what you feel and not us because no one who reads this site has any interest in anything you have to to say.
Get the message - get lost. With attitude like that no one will ever give you an acting job.

HaHaHa nice one!
It just seems to be Craig and his Bum Buddies that pair up and follow him around to write on to things he has just written. You seem to spend all you time telling off people or maybe taking your problems out on ppl for your failures! When we all see your names in lights you can have the right to say what you say! But at the moment we have never ever heard of you!
Face it, maybe you lot are the ones that are going no where!

I've noticed everywhere crgwllms posts somewhere Drama_Queen is not to far behind him. I think crgwllms is old enough to fend for himself, or so we are told. Drama "QUEEN" get in your little frock and jump on the next float out of here!

Bindy, just think a moment. If you or Sasha are here at this website to further your acting careers, you might want to be careful about who you back in an argument, and what you say.
Sometime in the future, you are probably going to want to audition for someone. They will work for a big prestigious company, and will have the power to offer you a job in theatre or film or TV or a commercial which may earn you big money and fame. But in all likelihood, the person conducting the audition interview will be someone you've never heard of, who's never had their name in lights, and doesn't 'look' important.
But they may have been someone you argued with here, or someone who read what you are saying here and thought you were a prat. If they recognize you from the website, or even if your manner of speaking reminds them of the way you write your posts on this website....well, I'd say there go your chances of being offered any roles...
Big Brother is watching you

Craig

Re: YES !!!!!!!!!
I have never seen any of these peoples names in lights on Broadway or in Hollywood or the East end and (sorry guys) we may never (but there is always hope).
Just because you haven't "made it" to the BIG time per se doesn't mean you are not known, it just means in your cases YOU don't know them or know of them because your social circle is so insular and/or you do not read the local paper or have a particularly wide knowledge of the local theatre scene (pardon the pun).
I have seen some of these peoples names and their photo in the paper in the context of theatre and have read their many varied and knowledgeable posts on this here site, and am occaisionally involved with some of the local theatre groups to know that what they speak is the truth.
Keep it up crg et al. The young and illiterate whipper snappers have a long way to go to get your status

By the way, you HAVE seen me on a recent TV ad, AND heard me on the radio...!
So I've been in both your living room AND your car...and you don't even know it!
Hmm...I was in your own space? Yep, you're right, I WAS going nowhere!
