Hello anyone and everyone

i am looking for acting role in any play, or performane in brisbane. I'm 15 years old, i have been acting at school since year eight, and dancing since i was 2. I dont' have that much acting experience, but I have been told by teachers and others that I have talent. I would really like to persue this "talent" and see where it takes me. I am extremely enthusiastic and ready to take on what ever you can throw at me.
thanks again anyone with some information for me.

Re: need to act

I too am a keen actress intrested in becoming involved in any play, performance, mini series..whatever, but within the NSW region. I am 16 years old, and although I have no professional expeience, acting has always been a passion of mine. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hmm...don't want to sound like the old fuddy-duddy around all this youthful enthusiasm (prefer to think 'experienced' around 'inexperience')...

Yes, there IS a barrier. But it's not just this acting biz. It's about absolutely any biz that's worth achieving...there's NO 'easy' way, and you're only defeating yourself to think there is. Decide what you want to do, and put in the hard yards. Whether you decide to call that 'suffering' or 'progress towards your dream' is only a matter of attitude; it's the same thing, except the ones who decide to enjoy the journey are more likely to complete it. Those who feel like they're suffering should maybe give more thought as to whether they're really on the right path.

Yes, it feels hard at 15, and there aren't many opportunities. But give it 15 years of effort and you'll discover that it ALSO feels hard at 30, and there STILL aren't many opportunities! So that's not really a valid excuse...although you'll only really appreciate that with age and experience.

Those hopefuls who post here occasionally..."adding to the list of wannabes"... with their background and statistics details, hoping someone will get in contact with them, are hoping for an easy dream that's extremely unlikely to happen. That's not how the industry works - there are hundreds of actors actively getting in front of directors and casting agents all the time: employers have no need or desire to be looking you up based on the sketchy details you provide on a web post that very quickly becomes old news. You're wasting your small efforts. Similarly, if a director posts here saying they want someone to fill a particular role...they almost always leave a phone number or their email to contact them directly. If you just reply here and hope they'll contact you, that's annoying to them (and the rest of us reading) and kind of lazy on your part. Don't expect the work to be chasing YOU. You've got to make yourself get noticed, be active...act!

Don't let this sound like I'm telling you there's no hope...I started acting at 15...I hadn't done drama at school, but got involved with amateur companies, including co-founding one of my own...by 19 I was working full time professionally, and at 35 I still am.

But you need to find your own opportunities and continue to build your skills and experience. Don't expect a sudden offer of work to solve all your problems...that's like telling a fire to give you heat before you give it the wood. Go on the journey, start climbing the 'barriers', and ENJOY, rather than suffer, the 'hard way' (...because it's the ONLY way.)

Only THEN will you discover you've prepared yourself for that moment when a work offer comes along...and you'll be the best candidate because you've worked hard enough to have earned it.

Bon chance

Craig
