Urgently seeking lead actress - Perth
Fri, 8 Aug 2003, 09:14 amAre you in your 20s (mid-20s ish to 30), a strong actress, swift at learning lines, and looking for a lead role to play in October?
The Garrick Theatre (Guildford) is staging a play called Falling Off a Log, and has just lost their lead actress to the requirements of a new job. The play is written by Georgina Weir (who also penned Death and the Maiden), and is a comedy being set in the gardens of two Melbourne homes.
The role is that of Pip, feisty and attractive next-door neighbour to Gerald; Pip has just left Uni and helps Gerald pull off a scam involving garden swapping, mother-fooling and marriage pretense, all the while becoming entangled with two would-be suitors....
Since the production opens in early October, the requirements for the actress are these:
1. You must be available for rehearsals between now and opening night (times may be negotiable, but at this stage they are planned for Sundays and some weekday evenings)
2. You must be available for the run of the show (first two-three weeks of October)
3. You must be able to learn lines and get into a role quickly
4. You should satisy the age / character requirements outlined above
I'm actually the actress that can no longer take the part, and I can assure you I wish I didn't have to give up the role; it is a fun one, with enough challenge to keep you interested.
