Hi,
i'm a 16 year old girl living in perth and i would like to get more into acting and theatre. I dont have a lot of experience. Does anyone know of any companies i could join or agents or anything like that. Even shows that would require a teenage cast member. If you have any information you can email me or message my mobile. The number is 0421785525.

Hi Crystal!
I am 17 years old, living in Perth, and I graduated from school last year. I completely understand your situation as I seemed to always be on a constant setback in terms of decent acting work because of my age or lack of experience.
I auditioned for a WAAPA course and am in first year now which I guess is pretty lucky seeing as they rarely take on recent school leavers. All I can suggest is to give everything a go and never let your lack of experience interfere with your potential. If you are interested in going to a drama school, just try out!
Otherwise, I could also recommend to you the Black Swan Theatre COmpany's youth section - BSX THEATRE. It is full of highly-acclaimed staff who have great experience and a lot to offer it's members. If you join up for the yearly fee of $10, you can see Black Swan performances for a reduced rate, as well as gain lots of experience from the many FREE masterclasses it holds with performers, directors and people within the industry. If you are interested, here's the details: Contact Jenifer Leys on 6389 0311 or go to www.bstc.com.au/bsx/
Just try out for as many auditions as possible, even if you don't get the parts it gives you great experience. Also, it will do you great justice if you see lots of live performances - music, stand-up comedy, musical theatre, dance, acting..... You'll begin to develop an observer's point of view and also help to keep your passion alive! You have already started on the right track by finding this site :)
Whatever you do, keep your dream alive and be persistent. I really hope this has helped because I am all too familiar with the problems you are currently facing. Good Luck!
