Playwrite,needs help with workshoping new play,about single women
Mon, 6 Jan 2003, 11:35 amA new playwrite requires help to further develop play,by workshopping it,by interested director,actors. in second draft, I have had many years experience as an actress on the stage in Sydney, and have aloswritten skits,and directed, I am trying my hand at playwriting and need help to further develope it. Any one interested?
The plays is about single women in a mainly married majority society.And the bias they are subjected to because of being single.the four main characters are women of different backgrounds and age groups,one a professional,business divocred woman in her 40s.a single mother in her 30s.A widow in her 50s.a retired school principal in her 60s.All have different back grounds, but the same common thread in life that of being single. Do they want to be single?Are they better off being single?
The play interacts with the audience as well. It comes from years of life experience and research ,on being divorced,single and what other single women can relate to,it has a sense of lifes comedy,tragedy,pain,and questions on society.It has a large cast,(at this stage).

Come on all your thespians out there ,help get this play on the stage, it's really womens theatre I suppose?

hi. Are you Sydney based?. If so,I'd like to help you with your project which sounds interesting.I am an actor and Drama tutor who can offer professional playreading skills,analysis,plenty of practical workshopping experience and a way to have your play 'read' for you to 'hear'.

Dear Edwina,
I have not worked in the industry for some years now and am pursuing academic study in theatre with a view to arts writing and screen writing.
I like very much the forthright way in which you describe your outline, and would love to assist your workshopping of this play. I am only forty, but can easily stand in and workshop any role you want to look at and work on.
The most stimulating years of my own professional acting experience were those I spent with Arena Theatre Company in Melbourne, where most productions were workshopped on the floor from an original script from our AD. I think this experience in particular could make me a useful collaborator.
