Does anyone out there have a copy of a one act play called "Albert". Not sure who the playwright is, it is about 25 years since I have seen it. It has a cast of about three or four where they are "all speaking their own language and can't understand each other" but the audience can understand of of them, of course. Was hoping to source it for an International Dinner (Fund Raiser).

Cheers,

Les

Re: Chasing an old script

Hi there Les,
The script "Albert" was written by Richard Harris and features three actors - Karin the Finnish au pair, Nico the Italian and Albert the Englishman. Our club - Goldfields Repertory Club in Kalgoorlie-Boulder performed this play for the 2001 ITA Drama Fest in Fremantle and won Most Outstanding Performance. Stuart Fleming was also awarded Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Nico. "Albert" was directed by Mark Kont and I am fairly sure Mark would be able to point you in the right direction for obtaining the script. I have my copy, however it is a bit old, battered and highlights all the speaking lines for Karin!!!! Anyway, Mark subscribes to these message boards so I am sure he will see your email and get in touch. If not, I will mention it to him at rehearsals!! Good luck and break a leg - I am sure you will have HUGE fun with "Albert". We certainly did!!
Cheers, Lisa

Found!

Nothing like being modest is there Lisa!

Les the script as available from the Samuel French catalogue through Dominie Pty Ltd, Drama Dept. The following details are from their web site at http://www.dominie.com.au It may not be the Drama Dept but they'll be able to guide you.

Address: 8 Cross Street, BROOKVALE
Phone: (02) 9905 0201

Done well it is a very funny piece. When I first saw it performed at our club (directed by Ian Butcher) I was literally rolling in the aisles. I only wish we could have done it as well as that crew - sorry Lisa. ;-)

I hope it works well for you Les, it certainly did for us.

Re: Found!

Thank you Mark and Lisa. I did hear that Goldfields did it for the festival...after I posted this.
