Theatre Workshops in North WA
Wed, 27 Feb 2002, 01:16 pmWorkshops for Schools - Youth Groups - Theatres in North WA
Do you live and work in the North of WA? Maybe even in a remote area that is barely visited by touring theatres and artists???
Now is your chance to book one or more Workshops with a professional workshop facilitator. Theatre Practitioner and Actor Allan Mathiasch is founder and director of Act 5. He will be touring from Geraldton to Kununurra from June to August 2002 (and maybe even as far as Darwin in September).
Allan has facilitated many classes and workshops with Act 5 and Barking Gecko since 2000. He has run workshops throughout WA including for MLC (Methodist Ladies College), Rossmoyne Senior High School, Penrhos College, UWA Extension and Community Centres in Perth, as well as School Workshops and Professional Development Workshops for Teachers in Bunbury and will soon be an artist in residence in Balingup.
Here in West Australia he has so far directed plays for Act 5, Class Act, the WA Youth Theatre Company, Broken Limb Theatre and UDS and recently was awarded with the "Innovative Production Award" at the ITA Drama Fest in September 2001. He also performed in various different plays including the Clowning show Serious Acting, the Two Tonne Budgie plays Caution - do not use if seal is broken and Cyclone by Shirley van Sanden. For the WA Fringe Festival 2002 he produced the successful show Flash Black.
Examples for possible Workshops are: Improvisation, Character Development, Freeing the Voice, Approaches to Directing, Process Drama, Mask Making, Moving in Mask, Auditioning, Mime Skills, Inside Brecht, Clowning, Street theatre, etc.
The Workshops provide the freedom that will develop the potentials, possibilities and qualities that lie dormant in each of us and will support their expansion. This is achieved by providing enjoyable, educationally balanced classes in which participants get the chance to have new experiences in a non-threatening supportive environment and have fun at the same time.
But the creative courses are not mass-produced; they are all made-to-measure for the needs of the participants. If you are interested in discussing further workshop possibilities, or have questions concerning these examples please contact us. Any workshop can be altered and reassembled to suit your needs.
The tour is presently being planned and if you are interested in running workshops or having Allan as an artist in residence. at your town, please let us know. You will then also receive more information about the workshops as well as a price list with the current fees.
