AMADEUS
Thu, 5 July 2001, 02:37 pmLess than a week to go before the opening night of Blak Yak TheatreÂ’s "Amadeus". This will be our first production for the year (after we were forced to postpone our previous show) and I am proud to say that this popular play has been done justice by a dedicated and talented cast. "Amadeus" is a well-known story, and everyone IÂ’ve spoken to is aware of the tale. More often than not, theyÂ’re familiar with the 1984 movie (winner of 8 Academy Awards) and surprised to discover that the play came first (or indeed, that it ever was a play).
The stellar cast are led by the idiosyncratic Eliot McCann in the role of a lifetime as Antonio Salieri, and the inimitable Shenandoah Bruce as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. New and returning Blak Yak members include Emma (Magrat) Farrell, Tracey Small, Nick Donald, Sean (Oedipus) Haining (alright, he was in "Oedipus", was not Oedipus), Julia (CFM) Dalby, Roger Trewick (hey, great, everybody enjoys watching Roger on stage), Allum Zia (well, there it is), Ross Hutcheon, Amanda Tyler and Lisa (Nunsense) Skryp (okay, I donÂ’t know how to spell it, I admit it).
Peter ShafferÂ’s script is a favourite of many, many people and is sure to make converts of many others. Six performances only at the spacious and comfortable Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre, Kalamunda Rd (next to the High School), Kalamunda (duh). July 11, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21 at 8 pm. Complimentary champagne will be served at the conclusion of the final perfomance. Bookings on 0500-52-52-59 (cost of a local call).
IÂ’ll probably annoy some people if I say this is one of the best shows Blak Yak has ever presented, but this cast and director Louise Carson deserve the praise. These guys are GOOD. See you there.

As soon as I received your message I tried the number myself and got through fine. You must have rung either exactly when someone else was booking tickets on the answering machine, or else just afterwards whilst the answering machine was resetting itself.
Saturday night is a good choice of performances as that is when we will be serving complimentary champagne after the show.
And all my mirrors are portable, so I never need be far from one. And thanks for the tip about the socks, Deano, although I got some damn funny looks at first until someone explained that I should be putting them down the FRONT of my tights...
