Desperately Seeking a Dadaist!
Wed, 6 June 2001, 01:15 pmHELP!
Roleystone Theatre's Production of Tom Stoppard's 'Travesties' is in dire need of someone to play the role of Tristan Tzara, founder of the Dadaist movement.
We have just gone through our FOURTH actor and I am starting to get paranoid! (except that it's only my Tzaras I keep losing)
If you are an actor who:
looks anywhere between an old Twenty and a young Forty
is good with comedy and deliberately artificial acting styles
is intelligent enough to cope with Stoppard's lines
CALL ME!!!
Paul Treasure (08) 9228 2776
or paul.treasure@defence.gov.au
Season is last week of July, first week of August

RE: Desperately Seeking a Dadaist!
you will have to play the part yourself

Them's fightin' words!
Hmmm, looks like Albert has just said that there is no one suitably talented or intelligent to play this part, and that the director (Paul) will have to do it himself.
Sounds like a challenge to me! Who's going to take it on?

RE: Them's fightin' words!
I'd like to, but unfortunately I'm a Surrealist. Playing a Dadaist would simply be beneath me.

Ha! They're cowards, the lot of 'em!
I propose an experiment: let the actor be on another stage entirely - say, even in another country.... It strikes me as strangely appropriate.
Now, it just so happens that I am on the other side of the world.....

I agree, hell if I can play a sexy, intelligent, marxist Librarian who dances on stage to the tune of 'The Stripper' (gratuitous plug) then the skies the limit for the rest of you!!!

I think that Paul has finally realised that after playing Henry in "Cosi" that he is probably the best one for the part but don't be put off if you want the part I am sure he would welcome you with open arms

Hmmmm, a surrealist who likes strip clubs, you intrigue me. But you did miss one club out. . . . . .
