I want to stage a play
Fri, 1 June 2001, 09:17 pmI want to stage a play.Does anyone know of a good book on the subject and if anyone out there is knowledgeable on the subject contact me. I have an actor and a possible play but no venue and a lack of knowledge. Help!

My suggestions, along with those of David Ryding would be to contact one of the more adventurous community theatre companies in Perth and talk to them.
Is your play a full length 3 acter or is it a one-act? If the latter you should think about entering it into the September DramaFest, either under your own sponsorship of ask one of the established companies to enter it under their name. If you want a list of the local companies e-mail me on davisrn@cygnus.uwa.edu.au or give me an address and I'll send you some info.

Thank you for that. This is my first use of this service and I forgot the most important thing. I'm in Sydney and as a first attempt at staging a play,I need to stage it at Sydney.Any advise with A to Z of staging a play is most welcome.Also any contacts you have in Sydney who can advise me will be helpful. The play has 5 men and 2 women and its Dracula by Steven Dietz. I already have the actor playing Dracula. So I need to cast 4 males and 2 females,plus find a suitable venue and get all the other people too,like the director etc.
I was an actor many years ago in the early 70's in England and had this dream of having my own theatre company and staging plays. I now need to do this as I'm 48 and feel this burning desire.
