Looking for Employment
Wed, 18 Apr 2001, 01:31 amHi, I am moving to Perth, Western Australia this May/June this year. I have been working as a Production Manager here in Singapore since 1995. Any recommendations where I can go for employment? Also, are there any short-term course in production/technical management, sound/audio, video, that I can attend in Perth or Western Australia? Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks!

The Western Australia Academy of performing arts might have some short courses. They are appart of the Edith Cowan University. The website is www.cowan.edu.au and follow the links.
Good luck and enjoy Perth, it might seem a bit slow to Singapore but hey, not too bad for the most isolated capital city in the world.

I have actually been to the waapa website but there is nothing about short courses. May have to email them to ask.
Perth may be the isolated capital on this planet but it is one place that I want to be!
sadly, it seems that there isn't much happening for theatre in Perth. Sydney and Melbourne are the places to be for that, it seems.

Try FTI - the Film and Television Institute of WA. Don't know their web address but the phone number is (08) 9335 1055. I'm pretty sure they have all sorts of courses in technical/production areas as well as writing, producing, etc.
Perth has a lot to offer but you often have to look a little bit harder! All the best with your quest.
