Hi everyone
I thought many of you may be interested to know that Peggy Nash Rubin is running a workhsop in Melbourne in August where she will Use Sacred Theatre as a framework for exploring the possibilities of enjoying life as a work of performance art. The arts have always had a profound connection with the human psyche. They are an intuitive expression of our emotions and our curiosity about lifeÂ’s mysteries. In PeggyÂ’s workshops you we explore the roles we play, including the starring one in our own lives, and the support we provide other players. We look at the joy of becoming the playwright and director, composer and choreographer, designer and producer, as well as leading actor, in this spectacular, magnificent, award-winning production of a lifetime. In her workshops, Peggy investigates the elements of traditional drama as they apply to your life. Peggy is Director of the Centre for Sacred Theatre, Ashland, Oregon. Her professional theatre career includes work in New York and Los Angeles and 14 years as staff member, actor, and education director for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Since 1986 she has been the principal associate in Jean HoustonÂ’s world-wide multicultural transformational work. In addition, she has studied with Elaine de Beauport, leading teacher of humanistic and behavioural applications of current brain/mind research. She is a wonderful teacher and facilitator. Email me if you are interested in more infortmation.

RE: Peggy Rubin's Sacred Theatre workshops

Hi Margaret

Sounds fascinating!

So much so i dug out some extra reading:

The Work of Sacred Theatre
"This has been a kind of impetus for sacred theater. A play ought to change your life. If the play is not going to change your life in a way you can consciously agree to and notice, if you are not going to hold that mythic dimension, why bother? "

Sacred Theatre Prolog [sic!]
"A way of looking at the world and yourself that invites you to dedicate your life to a sacred audience, and play it fully with passion and power. "

Cheers
Grant

I'll agree with Grant, the workshop does sound fascinating!

Any chance Peggy will be running one in Perth at some stage?

Cheers

RE: Peggy Rubin's Sacred Theatre workshops

Peggy won't be in Perth this year, but there is no reason why we couldn't include Perth in her next tour. She and Jean Houston come to Austraia every couple of years. Meantime here is Peggy's web address and more on sacred theatre.

She is worth a trip to melbourne though!
