Theatrical dance and Music Theatre

I've done a couple of years of Jazz and am looking for somewhere that teaches a theatrical style of jazz. If anyone could recomend somewhere I'd be really grateful.

Also I'm looking for theatres or groups doing musical theatre, not just on a once a year basis.

The best place to go is The Dance Workshop in West Perth. I think you would be very hard pressed (in Perth) to find anywhere other than the WAAPA full time musical theatre course that does 'theatrical' dancing, unless you wanted to swallow your pride and join the young-uns in the all-singing all-dancing tutu brigades in the Johnny Young style schools. Even in the Certificate of Musical Theatre at WAPPA you do a long 'funk' based class each week and then just a basic chourus piece, not focussing on any particular style of dancing. The Dance Workshop give classes to adults only (not a six year old in a pink leotard in sight) and has beginner-to-professional levels in everything - tap, jazz, ballet, spanish, flamenco...I think they even do belly dancing. As for somewhere to do musicals regularly - watch this space! Playlovers would seem to be the local specialists in amateur musical theatre and do several (award winning) productions per year, however many of the other organisations put them on as well. Keep an eye on the ITA audition site for details or subscribe to the ITA newsletter (I think - I'm not to sure about these old fashioned hard-copy contraptions...:-)

Thanks for your advice, Amanda. Ironically I already take classes at the Dance Workshop!! I love it there but was looking for something else as well.
Anyway I think my problems have been sold.
