Improvisation Dreaming Workshop
at the King St Arts Centre Studios
Improvisation Dreaming:
Contemporary performance work is opening new possibilities of merging art-forms - action, image, and sound, the moving body and voice offer never-ending impulses to make new the old forms of theatre, dance and storytelling. This workshop will include comprehensive physical warm-ups and group improvisations designed to flex your creative body, mind, and soul. This is followed by solo or duo performances and supportive feedback from the group - which is an important part of the workshop. I have drawn inspiration for this workshop from Alice CumminsÂ’ (and Al WunderÂ’s / Ruth ZaporahÂ’s) work in Improvisation.
Fantastic for generating performance ideas, practicing transitions, endings, and being present ‘in the moment’ - or just to air your inner ‘stories’ and give them light and play! Suitable for all who are interested, no experience is necessary. Give yourself permission to breathe, to dream, to act!

Silvia Lehmann: Silvia is an experienced and highly qualified theatre director, who has recently moved from Melbourne to Perth. She graduated with a Diploma of Dramatic Art from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne in 1995, and has since pursued a free-lance directing career, creating innovative and challenging physical performance pieces. In 1999 she established Descansos Dance Theatre here in Perth. The company produced two productions, Descansos, performed at the Blue Room in MayÂ’99, and Meine Grossmutter, a self-written, and self-performed piece for Putting On An Act at PICA, July Â’99. Silvia has experience making performances and running workshops with very diverse groups of people. Silvia offers classes that are movement based in a non-competitive, supportive group atmosphere.

Inside Out Theatre Consultancy and Tuition: Inside Out offers group and individual workshops, professional advice, support and assistance, to professionals and amateurs working in the Perth performance industry.
Inside Out stands for performance work that begins on the inside, where the kernel of truth and the real creative impulse lie humming, ready to spring forth at a little crack of light. It is our innermost passion that, in truth, drives our action outward. Just as the seams and the workmanship of a piece of clothing are exposed when turned inside out, so the workmanship, transitions, and craft are exposed, re-worked, and made new in the workshops and classes offered by Inside Out. Audition preparation work for actors and dramaturging assistance for writers are offered as individual sessions.
