Sat, 26 Aug 2000, 06:03 amI dont understand the mentality that continues to appear on this page and I would appreciate it if someone could clarify.
there are continuous complaints about the lack of funding available and further complaints that the government does not understand the difficulties of small theatre companies.
on this issue I feel that a lot of people are sorely misguided. Surely you must realise that the government will only fund the arts if its what the people want to see, yet you are continualy saying that theatre in WA needs to be revived. If it needs to be revived then it must be clear that we are not providing the audience with what they want to see.
Also the reason that we arte recieving funding cuts is because we are on the way down from a high point in recent theatrical history theatre is failing to maintain its audience so it is losing its funding.
the people at the beginning of this high point worked without government subsidy, why cant we?
