Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen will be presented by the Graduate Dramatic Society (Grads) at the Dolphin Theatre, University of Western Australia in December.
The play calls for many different sets; special props; traditional, Fairy tale, and animal costumes; special lighting effects, and evocative background music.
Can you help? Grads would be delighted to hear from any talented musicians, designers, carpenters and dressmakers, to help them make this a really wonderful theatre experience for our primary aged school children and families at the end of the school year. No previous stage experience is necessary, but welcome.
The Snow Queen auditions will be held on Saturday 19th September in Nedlands, and there will be an adult cast. Those auditioning should consider their availability for daytime matinee performances on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from December 2nd to 12th.
This may be the opportunity you've been waiting for, so ring Caroline Thornton for further details on 9386 1555.

Re: Help needed backstage

To Pat Stroud,
I am 18 years of age and hoping to gain a place at WAAPA in theatre at the end of the year. To help with my audition I am currenly seeking any experience in or around thaetre. I do not have much experience in the backstage side of theatre. I did do TEE Art, and may be able to help in set design, though I am willing to help in any way I can. Please contact me on the e-mail adress provided.

Re: Help needed backstage

Are you still looking for hands? My man thingo is doing design currently at uni and would like to get his hands wet with a little backdrop paint and some woodshavings....

Would some work in exchange for a reference at the end (only if he did a good job...not if the props fall over and kill the actors) sound like a good deal to you?

Re: Help needed backstage

Hi Jay,
I am very interested in your offer. I have designed a set for Playlover's production of
"Assassins" by Sondeim. Construction is pretty well completed and painting starts on
Sunday, What may inetest "your man" is that there are four backdrops which I would
be delighted to have him paint.
Playlovers is one of Perth's leading clubs, It's been going for over 40 years and has a
young, active membership - and some oldies like me. A number of professionals work
with us when "resting."
We would be happy to provide a reference or whatever.
If he's interested, my phone numbers are (home) -9341 5788 (work) - 92738 319.
We'll be at the theatre - Hackett Hall, Draper Street, Floreat, from 10 o'clock on Sunday.
You would both be more than welcome.
