All female Titus Andronicus
Fri, 29 Apr 2011, 08:59 am
Introducing Perth’s first all female theatrical collective, Her Infinite Variety Ensemble (HIVE)!
Some of Perth’s strong female performers have joined forces to produce challenging, innovative, and thought-provoking theatre.
For it’s inaugural production, HIVE presents one of Shakespeare’s most challenging tragedies: Titus Andronicus.
Exploring the conflict between civilisation and barbarism, desire and death, it delivers a surprising insight into the complexity of human relationships. Filled with madness, mutilation and murder, and set against a background that evokes the high-end fashion industry, this production promises to be a Titus like you have never seen before!
“Hark villains! I will grind your bones to dust...” - Titus
This innovative take on Shakespeare will be directed by Jenny De Reuck, Associate Prof. in English and Creative Arts at Murdoch University. The 12-strong female cast stars Equity Award Winners Nicola Bartlett as Titus, and Shirley Van Sanden as Aaron, and will feature elements such as dance and a live soundtrack created by Rhoda Lopez (Equity Award Nominee). The cast also includes: Tiffany Barton, Sarah Curtis, Helen Doig, Olivia Hogan, Emma Jermy, Angelique Malcolm, Claire Munday, Natalie Ryan-Brand and Mikala Westall.
