I am a playwright looking to meet a director to help realize a theatre script(s). This is not a paid job but looking to perform profit-share shows. I am looking to build a partnership, not merely find someone for one show. I am seeking: - anyone interested in trying their hand at directing perhaps for the first time, or - anyone schooled in directing who wants to get their hands dirty, or - anyone experienced in directing who wants to put on another show, or - anyone who maybe missed out on getting into that directing course, or - even a seasoned professional with some time on their hands WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? You will get the chance to get considerable practical experience in directing theatre. I am paying most of the costs of mounting the production (as I have done in the past). (Ongoing practice can often teach us a craft far better than any book-learning can.) WHAT SORT OF THEATRE IS THIS? I am mostly interested in dramas with a strong story. I believe the purpose of drama is to allow us to FEEL the rapture and the power of the mystery of life. I feel this is more important that conveying information, telling people what to think or commenting on society or politics directly. I have directed my previous shows but feel that I am stronger as a writer/producer and feel that I should find someone whose foremost skills and aspirations are in directing for a fresh interpretation. You can check out earlier shows here: www.aftonbridge.com If you are interested, please contact me at tgfirth@aftonbridge.com and we can catch for coffee to see if we get along. ;) Thanks for reading! :) Thomas.

Location

Where are you located? I could refer to your Profile myself but our Guest Readers will not have access to that.

Answer

Aftonbridge Theatre is a co-operative of theatre practitioners and performers, producing new theatre in Melbourne ....... No need to be cryptic Labrug - if you could refer to his profile then why not put the answer on your response! Oh dear ..........

It's a continuing education

It's a continuing education process to try and get people to use the locator tab when they construct their post in the first place. :) www.meltheco.org.au

Fair statement

Valid question and I did toy with the idea of doing so. The point is that I shouldn't have to and it sort of circumvents my objective if I were to do so.

Also, just because the poster's profile states a certain location does not imply that the theatre shares that same location. I just played it safe.

Apologies - MELBOURNE location

I'm sorry, I was cut and pasting this post from other postings and it seems the Melbourne designation was not copied over. Still... Long distance collaboration are not impossible mayhap..?

using locator tab

Actually I recall doing this - it does not seem to have saved.

There is a small glitch

There is a small thing with the state selector, :-( and we have not been able to track down why. Unless you select the state in very first submission, you will not be able to change it. The software appears to lock in the option first submitted and I suspect it is to do with the Filtering Features associated with it. :teacher:

It is a bit of a pain %) I know, so you need to ensure that you select the state first. One of the reasons we put that option at the very top of the form I guess. ;-)

Had any takers yet BTW?
