Legitimate Websites

Hi, I've just left school and I'm looking for experience in acting to further my career. I was doing some research into where I could find work, agents and help for new actors, and I came across these two websites, StarNow and QuietOnSet. They look like they could be helpful as the former lists auditions for free and the latter has beginner actor tutorials as well as auditions. However, QuietOnSet requires a fee for use and StarNow seems a bit too good to be true. I was just wondering if anyone here knows if these websites are legitimate and helpful. Thanks, Jackson

Legit

Both of these are legitimate sites, but they will not find work for you. They are not technically agents like a proper Company that you hire to represent you. These are information services only. They should be used (if at all) in addition to having an agent or as part of a Freelancer's network of contacts.

I am on StarNow and find that most of the offers are low budget and student work, but there is a lot of stuff going on and developing a contacts list is a vital activity you need to do.

Quiet On Set is another information resource with some interesting opportunities and very useful guides and advice. I get their newsletter and there are the occasional job opportunities.

However, my main point is that these are not Agent Services. They are resources services. If you are after an agent for professional representation, these are not viable options.
