AUDITIONS: Jack & Jill (The Blue Room Theatre, Perth)
Fri, 11 June 2010, 04:26 pmJack & Jill is part of the upcoming season at The Blue Room and will run from September 7th-25th 2010. Auditions will be held between 10am and 5pm on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th June. I would love to see as many of you audition as possible. For the audition you will need to prepare a 2-5 minute contemporary monologue of your choice. The audition will also involve cold-reading scenes from the script.
JACK & JILL
CHARACTERS:
Jillian Stewart: An artist and also a muse. Vibrant, confident.
Christopher Stewart: Jill's brother. A shearer. Reserved, shy, naive.
Jack: Christopher’s alter ego. Impulsive, passionate, rash.
Bear Johnson: Portrait artist. Aggressive, political, domineering.
Roadkil or “Kil”: A punk “enviro-sculptor” (she uses roadkill to make sculptures). Kooky, opinionated, manipulative.
PLEASE NOTE: The role of Kil has been cast.
SYNOPSIS:
When his estranged father dies unexpectedly, Christopher is obligated to venture from the isolated rural town of his childhood to the unfamiliar inner-city home of his half-sister Jillian, a charismatic young artist whom he has never met. Christopher is exposed to an alien world of temptation and indulgence that is both seductive and frightening. He quickly ingratiates himself with Jillian’s housemates and sometime protégés, volatile artistic duo Kil and Bear, who sense opportunity and secretly adopt Christopher as their next project. Nicknaming him “Jack”, the pair work competitively to transform the impressionable young man’s identity. A dangerous game unfolds and moral compasses are sent haywire in an intimate story about grief, identity, deceit and passion.
