City of Bayswater1 post in thread
The City of Bayswater is on the hunt for more members to join its Youth Advisory Committee. A forum giving people aged 12 to 25 a voice, YAC also helps the council learn more about issues important to young people. Bayswater Mayor Terry Kenyon said the aim of YAC was to raise awareness and celebrate the value of all young people across the City of Bayswater. “Participation is a key element in the development of people in this age demographic and getting involved in the Youth Advisory Committee encourages learning, social and community connections and confidence-building,” he said. “We congratulate the new members who have recently joined YAC but we would like to welcome a few more, so it’s truly a representative group. “I’m always amazed at the amount of sheer talent, dedication and commitment shown by young people in our community and this passion is something that should be nurtured and developed. “Joining YAC is a chance for young people to have their say so the council can, in turn, get valuable input as part of its various decision-making processes. “We want to ensure we get as much feedback as possible so we can develop the best methods to support youth rights in all of our suburbs.” Last year, YAC conducted a youth survey that provided council with valuable information regarding the concerns of young people within the local community. You must be aged from 12 to 25 and either live, work or attend school or TAFE within the City of Bayswater to be a YAC member. To get involved, call 9272 0658 or email yac@bayswater.wa.gov.au
