getting started...

Join a local community theatre group. Stirling Players (in Innaloo) has a Youth Theatre Group, as do a couple of other groups I think. A lot cheaper than taking on a workshop or course.
Most of these workshops and the like (though not all) will involve some sort of audition because so many want to have a part or be involved. So auditioning is the best way to cut down the numbers.
Then there are other sessions that can be quite expensive. The expense tends to cut the numbers down, or they will have limited spaces available. The PAC Screen Workshops are a great series of workshops that do not require auditions, and there are various versions available. They are expensive but some of the best courses out there are.
Which brings me right back to my opening statement - Join a local Community Theatre group or a Youth Theatre Group. While they may not be as advnaced or comprehensive as an expensive workshop, you will learn many valuable skills. Then you can consider those more advanced options.
