Attention YOUNG FASHION/COSTUME DESIGNERS

Are you a local FASHION DESIGNER under 26 years of age looking for a break in the fashion industry? Do you need funding to realise your very own collection and support from industry professionals to help make your dream a reality? RUNWAY INNER-WEST is a project that will support YOUNG FASHION DESIGNERS to realise a collection under the mentorship of professionals from the 'rag-trade'. The outcome will be a high quality RUNWAY EVENT in November to showcase your creation in front of the public and members of the fashion industry. What you get: " 3-months of professional mentoring " A budget for materials " A high quality Runway event to showcase your collection " A photo shoot to create a professional standard portfolio Successful applicants will need to commit to creating a collection featuring 6-8 garments. Applicants can work by themselves or in teams of 2 or more people. The professional Mentors will assist you in all the practicalities of bringing a design to life - but you will have to do the work. What you need to do: " Request an application form by emailing: jamesw@ashfield.nsw.gov.au " Complete and return the application form. " Prepare 3 samples of your fashion work (including sketches, patterns and garments). " Attend a selection interview with the professional Mentors to discuss your samples. Once selected, you will work closely with the Mentor to develop designs, create prototypes, budget cost of materials, purchase, construct and fit Models. The project will be intensive so we recommend that applicants make themselves available to complete the entire process by late November 2009. Criteria: " You must be under 26 years of age and from the inner-west of Sydney. " You must have a serious desire to develop a professional portfolio. " You must be available and capable of completing the project on deadline.
