Contempovision Films, a locally based production company, are currently casting for our newest short film to be shot on HD. Fractured is a socially realistic film that shows a snapshot of each characters day to day life which also deals with the consequences of the every increasing isolation in this modern era. A script by Mark Abberton, Fractured is about three ordinary lives that intersect during the fateful events of a single day. The story starts with Jackie, a single mother, who is struggling to keep up with mounting bills. We meet Premilia who needs her family now more than ever but they are thousands of miles away. Finally there is Bruce, a vineyard owner, who is watching his livelihood slip away. Each character begin their routine lives but this quickly becomes a day that none of them will forget. CHARACTER LIST: PREMILIA (25+): An Indian woman who has moved to Australia and is raising her young daughter. She is currently caught in bureaucratic negotiations with Immigration, attempting to allow her parents to join her in Australia. We are looking for Indian/Australian women between 25 and 35. BRUCE(40+): An orchardist who has gradually watched the effects of drought ravish his crops. To add to his worries the bank has threatened him with foreclosure. Pushed to the limit, Bruce decides to take matters into his own hands. We are looking for Australian men between 40 and 60. JACKIE (25+): A single mother who is finding her life increasingly overwhelming. Jackie wakes up to one of the longest days of her life. We are looking for Australian women between 25 and 40. JUDY (35+): Bruce’s wife and main source of emotional support. Judy watches her husband suffer under the strain of threatened foreclosure by the bank. JULES (7+): Jackie’s daughter. She is the first character we meet in this film, as she waits for her mother to drive her to school. FALGUNI (7+): Premilia’s daughter. Falguni is the final image of the film as she waits anxiously for her mother. Auditions are to be held on the dates below: Wednesday 1st July (Evening) Sunday 5th July (Day) We are shooting in September, so availability around this time is a must.
