Backstage people wanted - Brisbane area - "amateur" theatre - enthusiasm and comittment a must - will train!
Wed, 6 May 2009, 04:04 amThanks to those who responded to this need for crew - GUYS n' DOLLS MUSICAL REVIEW GROUP - look us up on Google.
I may have contacted you if you applied but then may have lost the important "follow up" - I have been overseas - sorry. If I haven’t contacted you, apologies, please come back to me. We are starting our season in June and into final; rehearsals, Tech Rehearsals and Dress. We then run at weekends Sat or Sunday’s until August at a venue near Brighton Queensland.
We are but small by theatre standards but very enthusiastic. We are professional in all we do on and off stage and whilst “unpaid” – we do it for fun – we do our shows for charity and receive grants.
We are some 40 strong but light-on "backstage". There's not much work as in immediate expectations but can use you now. We do need enthusiasts who can meld our various needs together and who would like to aspire to the building up of a great troup who are getting better with every show in producing a medley of cabaret type musical numbers. If you have an aspiration then we can help fulfil it.
Those who are in the Production team are experienced. We are looking for a handful of people interested in intelligent-lighting, sound, stage craft (sets), wardrobe and front-of –house. We are always looking for on-stage talent – especially MEN - where are you to sing and dance along with out pretty girls…… You want to see their CAN-CAN ………WOW…..!!
I started off life in lighting in my teens some 50 years ago in the UK and have since seen the development of a full bloodied musical theatre company in Melbourne - Whitehorse Musical Theatre. The company in UK I started with back in the 50’s is going strong and staging “Thoroughly Modern Millie” as I speak. I saw their rehearsals only but 2x weeks back.
"Guys n Dolls" Review Group has shades of what they were years ago. If you are interested in any facet of stage work then we could be of interest in you and giving you some fun and an interest you will have for life. We do it because we love it.
Why don’t you come along and enjoy us as we move upwards and forward using today's technology lighting wise, sound wise and stage wise.
Come along and develop your skills............
Peter - affectionately known as the "Gaffer" (look up its definition!)
