Call for cast

ACTORS WANTED: CALL FOR CAST: ‘IN THE FAMILY’. A new one-act play by Annie Otness, to be presented at The Pocket Theatre June 09 season. In an evening the family reveal secrets. The parents, Dad and Faye, discover that their 30-ish daughter Sandra is pregnant, to provide a baby for her childless brother Gavin and his wife. But the identity of the father, and the secret family relationships that are revealed isthe catalyst that will change them all forever. CHARACTERS: 4 adults: two male; two female. DAD: strong-looking successful man high blood pressure type, about late forties early fifties. He wears slacks and a shirt, with maybe a smart casual cardigan or zip jacket. FAYE/ MUM: anxious, stressed woman, a year or two older. She wears a smart tracksuit, or expensive looking at-home wear. SANDRA, (DAUGHTER): confident, decisive woman about mid thirties. She is in the first months of pregnancy. She dressed in business-type clothes, a plain skirt and top, as though to go out to work. GAVIN, (SON): arrogant, self-possessed man about the same age. He is dressed in a suit or semi formal power clothes. All the characters are related and so need to be similar enough to pass for a family. Both the parents need the same accent, preferably Australian, and the son and daughter also. POCKET THEATRE: It is a co-operative and operates on a profit share basis. It is based the North Fremantle Bowling Club, Harvest Road, North Fremantle. Performance dates: 18th - 20th June, and 25th – 27th June with a possible Sunday Matinee. Rehearsals: Commence after Easter - From beginning of May, with rehearsals in the theatre 15th to 17th June. Proposed to have rehearsals in South Fremantle, or where is convenient for the cast, and times are flexible over weekdays, weeknights, or weekends, to be organised to suit everyone.
