Happy Haven

An imperfect story of a young man’s journey to lose his virginity.

Synopsis

Happy Haven is a story about Joey, a sixteen year old boy who loses his virginity to a prostitute. Joey snaps after being harassed by his Mother and rejected from his girlfriend and decides to go on a rebellious rampage with his older friends but ends up biting off more than he can chew on his short lived adolescent escape.

Character’s required for auditions

  1. BRAD (20), drivers licence required. Brad the oldest of the gang, is the alpha male who empowers himself by hanging out with younger boys who he can control and influence, and also prey on their girlfriends.
  2. PETE (19) Pete is simply Brad’s sidekick who shares his dole cheque for booze and drugs and does anything to be accepted by the gang.
  3. BOTTLESHOP ATTENDENT (18-19) greasy hair and overweight. Works in the bottle shop.
  4. BROTHEL MADAM (40-60), wears a trashy cat suit but is street wise.

Biography - Jeff Asselin - producer/director

Jeff Asselin’s, first commissioned short film Little Man (2002) which he produced, received four nominations in the 18th West Australian Screen Awards and won Best Actor. It also won the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) Gold Award in Western Australia and the ACS National Distinction Award. In 2005 Jeff was selected for the SHOWTIME Talent Assist Scheme at the Screen Producers of Australia (SPAA) conference. www.angelpictures.com.au/littleman

Jeff’s second commissioned film ‘My Shout’ (2005), which he also produced went on to win the Best Drama Production at the 2007 West Australian Screen Awards. The film is currently still picking up awards and screening at Festivals around the world. For more info www.myshout.net.au.

The last film Jeff directed ‘Three to One’ 2005. The film scored a best Actor nomination at the WASA’s for Lachlan Chapman and the lead role, Khan Chittenden, has gone  on to feature in many feature films including West, Clubland, Endless Bummer and In Her Skin.
