Looking for Actors - Major Short Film Project
Fri, 13 June 2008, 04:19 pmMy name is Nikit Doshi, and I am a 3rd Year Film Major at Curtin University. we are currently casting for a role in our upcoming short film ‘Shirtless.’
“Shirtless” is the story of Oliver, a man suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The story looks at one day in his life, as he struggles to face the outside world. We follow him during a day at the office, as he deals with the nature of his disorder, and a confrontation with Graham, the ‘office bully.’ The story is ultimately one in which, through the course of his day, he struggles, but overcomes his anxieties, with a new lease on his life from there onwards.
We are currently looking for the following:
Oliver - Oliver, the lead of the film suffers from OCD. He is clean cut, and is a lost and isolated character, who often does not fit in with the rest of society. It is through his eyes that we are exposed to OCD, and experience his struggle with it, following him as he ultimately overcomes his anxieties in a somewhat comical manner.
Graham - is a 30-35 year old man, who has a nasty side in trying to humiliate others by playing practical jokes on them. He is an employee with a desk job in the office, and is the typical ‘bully.’ We are however looking to portray him as a darker individual, who has simply accepted life in a routine, mundane job, and keeps himself going by taking this out on others.
Melanie - She is a bubbly, very lively and attractive 20-28 year old lady. She is a friendly and approachable character, who is care free and lives to enjoy life. She does not like to take things too seriously, and can see the lighter side in everything.
At this stage, we are looking to shoot the film in the 2nd week of August, and those that are interested in reading the script can get in touch with me to arrange for this, and for an audition. It is a complex and fantastic set of characters, which have various layers to all of them, providing a great challenge for any actor.
