American required for training DVD presenter's role - International distribution
Mon, 3 Mar 2008, 12:20 pmOur company is looking for an on-screen presenter for a training DVD aimed at the academic market. This DVD will be distributed internationally (your voice will be dubbed for foreign languages). International exposure, and possible IMDB cast listing. We may also use your headshot (taken by our photographer) on the product.
THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- American accent (prefer continental USA, but Canada also acceptable). No fake accents are acceptable.
- No experience required. However, experience is viewed favourably.
- Professional appearance
- Clear speech (no difficult/academic language is required)
- Professional speaking manner
- Able to do voiceover work for cut-aways
- Over 18 years of age
- Able to sign the appropriate contracts and releases
- Punctual and reliable. Cannot overstate this. If you commit, we can be flexible with filming dates, but once you say yes, you must be able to follow-through. A reliable person will be very highly regarded for other productions.
- Able to provide professional-looking clothing if needed (we may provide you with a polo shirt or similar, but you'll need to have trousers and dress shoes or similar professional-looking clothes, as we may be shooting full-body for part of the production.
- Able to meet the producer for a coffee and chat about the production beforehand, before we decide who will be the presenter.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:
- You will be the presenter of a simple training DVD for the academic market. No difficult language, but you need to speak clearly and hold the viewer's interest using a set script.
- You will be on screen for perhaps 50% of the time (other time is for cutaways, titles and other footage).
- You will be on a small set with proper lighting, and you'll look great!
- You are very likely to be the only person on screen for the whole production
- Script will be read from a teleprompter so no memorisation is needed. You'll be given a script for familiarity ahead of time.
- Producer is friendly and easy to work with. Easy-going environment providing you behave in a professional manner.
- Lunch and refreshments will be provided
- Filming should only take two days (probably a weekend, but flexible), with a possible call-back. Product cover photo shoot will happen on the first day.
- Voiceover may take half a day.
- Available to film in/near Brisbane from May, delays notwithstanding. Applicants from other locations are welcome, but must be able to travel.
- The end product will be a professionally-made DVD, pressed from a glass master disc (the same way Hollywood does it) with a proper DVD case and full colour jacket). It will have professional titles, transitions, music and good editing. Despite being a pilot project, it will still be great quality, and you'll have a nice example of your experience to show other producers.
This is a pilot project for a larger version which is on our production slate for later this year. We expect to film three products based on this, so the right presenter could be hired for three productions.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- As this is a pilot project, the work won't be as rigorous as a full production (no 20 hours days!), and pay is token only. If you are hired for the three full productions, you will be paid accordingly. If you rely on this for your livelihood, this might not be the right project for you. If you are looking for experience and exposure, this could be for you.
- Screen credit will be provided, eg: "Presented by: [your name]".
- Token amount of cash (pay amount not yet set - budget is being completed)
- Reference letter will be provided from our company confirming your work
- A finished DVD (professionally pressed from a glass master disc, including case and full-colour jacket) will be mailed to you once finished.
- Copy of a professional photograph from the photo shoot for the product cover. You can use this as a promotional tool to help you get further work
HOW TO APPLY:
- E-mail a headshot to the Producer, Daniel Lewis: dl@emcs.com.au (professional or just a snapshot, it doesn't matter)
- Include details of any work done in the past (if no experience, no problem) and your age
- Please state which type of US/North American accent you have (eg: Southern US/Texas, Canadian, etc)
- Optional: attach a very short voice recording or video (webcam with audio ok) with a sample
- Optional: mail a DVD or video with samples of your work or a brief personal introduction. (Attn: Daniel Lewis, PO Box 579, Sunnybank, QLD, 4109)
Applications should be received no later than 5pm Monday, March 10, 2008.
