The Venue:
The Quarry Amphitheatre is owned by the Town of Cambridge and managed under a management agreement, by Starlight Theatre Lighting, who provide all of the staff at the venue.
From November to April, the position is full time at the Quarry Amphitheatre. From May to October, the manager has the option to work either 20 hours per week, while accruing the balance for the Summer season, or 20 hours per week at the Quarry and 18 hours per week at the Koorliny Arts Centre in Kwinana. An administrative assistance is employed at the venue throughout the Summer season to assist the manager.
Set in natural bushland surrounds the Amphitheatre extends a relaxed, informal atmosphere. It has an intrinsic ability to attract high-quality performance art from a variety of sources. The Quarry Amphitheatre supports a capacity audience of 644 people and is a licensed BYO facility making it the perfect setting for summer evening picnics before live shows to be enjoyed by friends, families and couples
Job description:
The Theatre Manager will be responsible for the administration and production management of a range of performances at the venue.
This position will ideally suit a manager with a technical background and the ability to represent and sell effectively promote the venue to prospective hirers.
The manager will be required to undertake liquor license training and become an approved manager at the Venue.
BOCS training will also be provided.
Weekend work during the main season is inevitable, though may be mitigated by appropriate management.
Computer literacy, including excel, word and email systems is essential.
The Manager will be responsible for employing overseeing and training of front of house and cafe;
The Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the theatre meets the requirements of legislation such as the public building code, child protection and licensing laws:
The Manager will be responsible for attending marketing meetings and undertaking marketing activities;
The Manager will be responsible for dealing with the budget and exercising appropriate financial control;
Line Management:
Day to day administrative assistance is provided by the Town of Cambridge.
Line management is provided by Ian Ashton, who is keen to train and assist the successful applicant to become an effective, independent multi-skilled manager capable of working throughout the industry in a range of roles.
Remuneration:
The appointment is made in compliance with the Theatre Managers award based on a 38 hour week.
Time banking (up to 420 hours per year) is offered to allow the manager to sustain a regular income.
Remuneration in a range of $38,000- $45,000 plus optional overtime is anticipated, dependant on age and experience.
